Ship Transit / the-corridors

The corridors appeared to be in a similar state to the transporter room - trashed, corrupted, and with one single dead body in the middle of it, lying face down.

Aoife stepped into the hallway, rifle raised. She stepped towards the body carefully. Once she got there she crouched down to get a better look, she didn't touch the body yet.

Another uhlan, another victim of the mysterious somebody. No signs of Borg influence, too.

"Another uhlan! Dead, same way as the others." She said to anyone who had followed her through the door from the transporter room.

"Oh, I'd hope he would," Allan said in response to Eshen, giving a silly smile in Alizati's direction as they walked through into the corridor, provided the other two in his team were following him, "whoever put together these teams clearly knew how lovely of a team we are." Whaaat, he had the most fun on the daily job when he was working with Alizati, it was true! Even with the new ACEO he'd still gotten to work together with him quite closely as he had been before, and for that he was nothing but grateful as he stepped towards #turbolift-02 to inspect it more closely, because, well - turbolift favoritism, as always.

If the officers chose to go further, they would see the two turbolifts - one looking more broken than another... but nothing some skilled engineering couldn't fix?

Oh boy, that's their job, isn't it. Sigh. Well, here we go.

The thought of this Romulan/Borg ship had been ominous from the start, but the sight of the bodies made things even more eerie. It was in silence that she followed behind the others who had beamed over, gaze flitting back and forth between bodies as they went, first in the transporter room and then out into the corridor. It was unnerving being among so many of the deceased and not being able to do anything about it. This wasn’t a major incident where you could triage and find at least some red-cards amidst the black. All of the Romulans here were deceased… And it didn’t take a medical examiner to tell you how: the stab wounds were evident. That only served to make her more uneasy. Wouldn’t the Borg have assimilated them? If the Borg hadn’t done this, then who had? “Let me know if I can help with anything,” she commented quietly at the sight of the turbolifts. She wasn’t an engineer, but not doing something amidst all of… This felt wrong.

Austin decided to address everyone on his team. "Allright so it seems like five might be able to get this turbolift fixed so I suppose we will take Turbolift one and the rest of you all could see where turbolift one gets you?" He looked around to see if that sounded fine to everyone else.

While some of the away mission had decided to work on the turbolifts, Aoife decided to look for an access point into the Kinaen's Jefferies tube systems.

SCPO. Five of Eight | OPS BOT 22-Apr-23 06:52 PM
Great, they thought, huffing quietly before heading off to check turbolift one. Grumbling something incomprehensible about turbolift bias, and that it was awfully convenient that they were stuck with the more broken one.
Avatar
Narrator BOT 22-Apr-23 07:05 PM
It seemed that Kinaen just loved to inconvenience her unwelcomed guests, for as the tubes seemed to be inaccessible because of a huge bulkhead that was blocking the way in.
Avatar
Lieutenant Aoife O'Rielly | TAC BOT 22-Apr-23 07:16 PM
Aoife took out her tricorder and proceeded to scan the bulkhead. She was looking to see if one of her phasers could cut through the bulkhead on a high enough setting.
Avatar
Narrator BOT 22-Apr-23 07:26 PM
Technically, she could succeed - but using her phaser might take a lot of time. Hmm...

Lieutenant Aoife O'Rielly | TAC BOT 22-Apr-23 07:41 PM
Aoife half yelled down the hallway. "Hey! I've found a way into the Jefferies tubes but I need to cut a bulkhead, I could use some extra phasers so anyone who ain't busy on the lifts should give me a hand!" While she waited for more people she turned her rifle up to its maximum setting and began blasting away.
Avatar
Lt. JG. Halcyon Horowitz | MED BOT 22-Apr-23 07:47 PM
Hal walked down the hallway towards Aoife. In one hand she held a phaser, the other was busy finger-snapping still. Hal was stressed out and really quite happy to be out here with just one other person. She smiled at Aoife and walked over to her. “Heard you needed a hand, and well, I wasn’t doing anything over at the lifts anyhow. Brilliant idea though, hope this works. So, how you doin’ out here?” And with that, Hal also turned her phaser to its maximum setting and began blasting at the bulkhead, a little bit away from where Aoife was going, to meet in the middle and cut a hole big enough to fit through.
Avatar
Lieutenant Aoife O'Rielly | TAC BOT 22-Apr-23 08:08 PM
Aoife gave Hal a nod as she approached. "Yeah as many phasers as I can get, this looks to be a pretty dense bulkhead. I'm doing fine, we just need to cut through this. Best not to hedge our bets on just the lifts I have a feeling they might be shot to hell and back." Aoife continued to cut with her phaser rifle as she spoke to Hal. She also periodically glanced up and down the hallway, to see if anyone else was coming to help or if there were any unwelcome guests coming to crash their party.

Slowly but surely, the bulkhead seemed to be succumbing to the fire. The noise it all made, though, was sure... A Lot.

“Looks like it’s working. Loud as all hell though.“ She wished she brought earplugs, but alas. She had no earplugs with her. So Aoife and Hal would have to stick it out till the bulkhead succumbed.

Lieutenant Aoife O'Rielly | TAC BOT 22-Apr-23 08:37 PM
"Nothing medical won't be able to fix if we get tinnitus or something!" Aoife said over the noise of the phasers.

Lt. Cdr. Austin Whidbey | SEC BOT 22-Apr-23 08:42 PM
Austin cautiously peaked out from behind the turbolift wall. He was ready to shoot with both his phasers pulled back. "Who the hell is attacking." Austin shot a suppressing shot at the back on the bulkhead to draw attention away from any crew who may be under attack.

Lieutenant Aoife O'Rielly | TAC BOT 22-Apr-23 08:45 PM
Aoife stopped firing her rifle when the shot arced near where she was firing thankfully missing her. "Hey! Check your fire we're trying to cut through a bulkhead here!" Aoife was displeased, she had called out that she was going to be cutting a bulkhead!

Austin tossed one of his phasers into the wall out of rage. He rubbed his temple clearly eritated. "And what in the hell made you think that was a good idea? Without communicating with anyone else here?" He stormed over to the Lieutenant. "God damn, you should be glad I wad never your drill officer because I would've beaten that out of you on day one." He grasped the edge of the ship once it shook. "Jesus, any idea what the hell that is?"
20:48
He didn't like getting pissed off during a mission. He ran through a quick meditation ritual with his eyes closed. "I'm gonna need to talk to you when we get back." He paused. "For now we got work to do."

Lieutenant Aoife O'Rielly | TAC BOT 22-Apr-23 08:51 PM
"You! Need to turn your listening ears on sir because I did communicate it and lieutenant Horowitz heard me from the turbolifts." Aoife was going to continue but she was interrupted by the ship's rumble. "What the fuck was that? Is the core going critical?" Aoife's mind jumped to the most possible cause for a ship to lucrch like that.

Lt. Cdr. Austin Whidbey | SEC BOT 22-Apr-23 08:53 PM
He sighed. "Stop shooting the ship, I think we've got a turbolift on the verge of working. I don't like this rumbling but we ought to investigate before we just simply retreat."

Lieutenant Niwayiva | MED BOT 22-Apr-23 08:53 PM
Having been equally concerned by the sound of phaser-fire, Niwa was thankful to find that it was just the other team at work on their respective turbolift… Although it didn’t seem like everyone was as relieved as she was. She flinched as Austin directly threw his phaser into the wall, and then she subsequently stood there, watching him in a stunned silence. People dealt with their frustrations in different ways, and of course tensions were running high aboard this derelict ship… But someone who physically threw weapons in rage wasn’t the sort of person she expected to be in the position of ACoS. She was knocked out of the stupor by the sound – and sensation – of the ship rumbling. “I don’t think is the right time to debate – bring it up at a debriefing. The other team were just doing what they could to try to get the turbolift working. Now, what was that? Can we uhm – can Engineering or Science get us a structural integrity reading, maybe?”

"Were about to break through the bulkhead and get into the Jefferies tubes. We don't know what state the lift network will be in we shouldn't rely on just them to get around." Aoife snapped back at Austin, clearly still annoyed at his reaction since she had announced she was going to boar through a bulkhead.

Lieutenant Eshen K'Tann | CMD BOT 22-Apr-23 08:58 PM
[Comms] "Aoife and Hal, do you know anything about that rumbling? Austin, how's your team doing with the other turbolift?"
Avatar
Lt. Cdr. Austin Whidbey | SEC BOT 22-Apr-23 08:59 PM
He chose to ignore Aoife clearly she didn't announce it loud enough for his team to hear given that they were all concerned. He tapped his comm badge. [Comms] "Team 1 is close to completion on repairs of the turbolift, don't know anything about the rumbling but my whole team felt is aswell."

Lieutenant Aoife O'Rielly | TAC BOT 22-Apr-23 09:07 PM
"Should I continue to gain access to the Jefferies tubes or are we going to rely on the lifts that may or may not work, like a bunch of amadán's?" Aoife asked completely seriously.

Oblivious to the conversation at hand, Five had poked their head out of the turbolift. "She's up and running again," he called.

He smirked a little bit. "Does that answer your question." He caught himself being a smug and closed his eyes to purge those emotions quickly. "It sounds to me like they work just fine." He walked back into the turbolift
Avatar
Lieutenant Aoife O'Rielly | TAC BOT 22-Apr-23 09:30 PM
"Yeah they work now. All fun and games until one of the lift tracks snaps and you get hurled into space." After all there was a good reason you should avoid lifts in an emergency situation, if there's an issue in a tube you can just go a different way on a lift you weren't in control. Aoife didn't like not being in control in such a situation.

With a shrug, Hal walked to the working turbolift. She had heard Aoife just fine, and she didn’t even have super-fancy Vulcanoid hearing. She didn’t even have extremely good hearing for a human. “C’mon. No need to get in more trouble than we’re already in.”
Avatar
Lieutenant Aoife O'Rielly | TAC BOT 22-Apr-23 10:25 PM
Aoife was now rather pissed off she wasted a bunch of time trying to get into the tubes only for it to be completely unnecessary and that she nearly got shot in the process. "Yeah let's go." She headed towards the lifts at the end of the hallway.

Aurisk followed the two to the turbolift. They’ve been hanging back mostly, letting the others do their thing. They made a mental note to stay out of Aoife’s way. She seemed mad and it couldn’t hurt. Right? Right.

Aoife emerged from the lift into the hallway. Her rifle was still raised, she didn't like the vibes on the warbird at all, especially with team one not responding to Comms.

Jamis was out next, shoulder-to-shoulder with Aoife with his rifle too. He took a moment to think of multiple scenarios as they began to move down the corridors; who they could encounter, what were the countermeasures depending on the potential enemy, what was the best way to disable without killing, and so on. His rifle's torch guided the groups' steps as they slowly moved towards the redezvous point.

Phaser in hand, she followed along to the rendezvous point. She had cleared her head a bit, now focused on the task ahead. She was trying not to die over here and she couldn’t let panic cloud her judgement. She had always stayed in the lab, far away from any action. Now that she was in the thick of it, she had to step up and stay safe.

Lieutenant Aoife O'Rielly | TAC BOT 24-Apr-23 05:28 PM
Aoife lowered her rifle slightly, then listened to the message on the ships comm system. Once it had concluded she turned to the other team members. "I guess we go to the bridge?" Aoife phrased her words as a question, she wanted the opinions of the other team members before deciding what to do.
Avatar
Lt. JG. Halcyon Horowitz | MED BOT 24-Apr-23 05:42 PM
“Yes, we should get the the Bridge.” She was on guard, but she thought it might be offensive not to go. After all, they weren’t attacking, and making a scene might be worse than anything. They needed to get home first and foremost.
Avatar
Narrator BOT 24-Apr-23 05:56 PM
Considering their proximity to the lifts, team two could probably be the fastest to get to the bridge, if they chose to move out immediately.
Avatar
Ensign Aurisk | CMD BOT 24-Apr-23 05:58 PM
Aurisk nodded. They were positioned near the back in the group, so they quickly caught up to the rest before speaking. “I agree,” they said to the rest of the team. “We should still be careful, though. Even if the Kinaen’s crew isn’t a threat, this whole place still seems off.”

Lieutenant Aoife O'Rielly | TAC BOT 24-Apr-23 06:03 PM
